Proverbs
Hello,
Long time no blog. There's a huge gap since this date and my last post.. Reason being, I graduated from Gnomon, got married in May and moved! Busy busy. But now, things have settled down and I am job searching in Reno, Nevada.
Here is something I did recently in my spare time. I don't usually (or, I never usually) do cartoon/comics but did it as a favor for a friend of mine at church for her class. These characters are based off of part of the book of Proverbs (click for larger view):
PS, I might be switching to another blog since my name has changed! I'll provide that link in a future post. Thank you for keeping up with my work, readers of my blog. You are a big encouragement :)

Still need to fix/add a bunch of stuff that's missing. The ab part is a big boo boo. I thought i fixed it but I guess I didn't. :/
Update 3.26.10:

I put this in the Best of Term folder. One of my first submissions ever. Don't know if I'll win anything.

Character Creation for Games @ Gnomon
HellO!
I just started classes again and am in Rich Diamant (Lead Character Artist Naughty Dog)'s Character Creation for Games class. We started a class blog- everyone posts stuff. Look for mine there! (Click on the subject link)
Enjoy :)

edit: woops. A friend of mine told me it was invite only. I'll just post what i posted there here:
WIP - Marion Cotillard model head model (our first assignment) so far:

Update: 2-7-10
I didn't want to post this above the latest post so here it is, my fixtures to Marion Cotillard model. I don't think I have the likeness anymore... and I think I missed a few things Rich said and sorry Rich, for not adding a clavicle or upper shoulders..

Thanks for viewing :)

Some current WIP

WIP (work-in-progress): A pregnant woman modeled after the sculpture (see previous entries). I had-- maybe still have an obsession with modeling pregnant women.
This is a personal project I started. A 3D rendition of Bougereau's painting Springtime (1873). I ideally, I'd like to do all the cupids around her, but for now, I'm focusing on the anatomy of the pose. The face is not even there yet, I know. Here is the original painting:
Here is another but only a head study, this is actress Justine Waddell, She's pretty beautiful. I believe she is in some British movies and I love her costumes especially in [David Fincher & Spike Jonze present director] Tarsem Singh's The Fall (2006). Gorgeous movie.

I love doing faces and heads. I need to work on those ears. I'm going to add some hair to her when I get the chance and retopologize.. and UV and texture and light AND render. But for now, I'm just modeling. I got some more stuff on my external harddrive that I don't have at the moment. I can upload them sometime next week. I need to produce some clean models though. People like clean models.Wednesday, December 2, 2009
WIP: Environment for Games Final - Lighting Tests
Hellow!
What I've been working on at Gnomon. I'm in an Environment for Games course with Kevin Griffith (Blizzard) and this is what I have so far for my final. These are just some lighting tests. My textures aren't done yet. I need to fix some seams that don't match up plus other things..

ps, this environment is inspired by Red Rock Canyon State Park, CA. I did both my Digital Sets & Environment for Games final (Exterior, DigSets/Interior, Env 4 Games). We went to Red Rock for our first field trip in Digital Sets.

The final submitted. This is my first stab at the mental ray subsurface scattering fast skin shader- not entirely successful but definitely the start of a journey of perfecting the skill. There are a million little things I could make better but I hope this can be appreciated in the state that it's come to. Maybe I could re-render this in the future when I have a better grasp on the shader. But despite any of that, I hope you've enjoyed this, whoever you are.

WIP (Work in Progress) - Lighting 2 Final
This is very rough lighting & texturing (and some modeling) for my lighting final. It is based off of a drawing by 19th century medical illustrator Richard Quain -- in his book The anatomy of the arteries of the human body, with its applications to pathology and operative surgery

My 3D rendition. (Maya & ZBrush)

The original drawing (found on this amazing website hosted by the National Library of Medicine).
Update of final progress to come. Come back soon.

Hello!
Here are some images I haven't added to this blog-- I just want to share them

Lighting 2- exercise with glass- reflection & refractions

Visual structure Mermaid story title page

Strange creature design in Production Design with John Mahoney

Space Clown (again)- Production Design with John Mahoney - we had to take an existing image and make it funky. I did not see the name of this artist-- sorry I can't credit him/her. But yes, this female is not entirely original.

Visual structure Mermaid story - one of the environments of the story

Drawing for Sculpture 1 sculpture - with John Brown

Almost completed sculpture for Sculpture 1

Detail of head plus generic head for Sculpture 2 (also with John Brown)

Hello hello
Hello again all.
Back again from a long siesta. We finished the second term and I failed to post some of my completed projects so here they are. This term (3rd) is becoming more exciting for me since I've been developing an interest for what I want to focus on. Also a bit busy with more complex assignments as well as acquiring an internship at Pixologic. Fun stouffers!

F-16 Texture final
In other news, my website is back up! I'd like to update it sometime but that I will add to my to-do list. Take a visit if you'd like! Enjoy!
